The last few years have been a roller coaster ride for technology companies; a ride that has ended in disaster for many. Much of the blame has been placed on the rush to “get on” to the Internet bandwagon; and on the belief that the Internet would be the universal panacea for every business.
Start-ups have been trumpeting Internet technology breakthroughs of every kind. But let the buyer be aware! As Professor Michael Porter has noted in a recent Harvard Business Review article: “In periods of heavy experimentation, even sellers of flawed technologies can thrive. But unless the uses generate sustainable revenues or savings in excess of their cost of deployment, the opportunity for technology providers will shrivel as companies realize that further investment is economically unsound”.
Eutech Cybernetic is not a dot com company in that our origins predates the dawn of the modern Internet craze. Indeed, we started life as a developer and manufacturer of sophisticated embedded controls and instrumentation. This is a highly successful business that we spun off in 1996 to enable us to focus more on our growing interest in software.
This experience in building a business has taught us one valuable lesson; namely, our future is highly dependent on our ability to provide solutions that bring sustainable value to our customers. Everything else is secondary.
The Internet is an enabler. However, we see it as a lowest common denominator rather than a highest common factor. Fundamentally, the Internet enables us to deliver business solutions to our customers in more innovative and cost-effective ways. Therein lies its value.
iViva.works™ is Eutech Cybernetic’s flagship product. Broadly, it is a software platform and a suite of applications for infrastructure management. Since the first installation over five years ago, we have worked closely with our customers to develop solutions in the areas of facility management, energy, building management and healthcare among others.
In many respects, the development of iViva.works™ has been a collaborative effort and owes as much to input from our customers as to our own innovation. Thus, the solutions that we have developed are field proven, embodying the best practices of leading practitioners.
Eutech’s goal is to satisfy our customers to the fullest extent possible. We recognize that every customer’s need is unique and, in this regard, we have a team of over 160 software engineers who are able to tailor appropriate solutions at the lowest possible cost.
