Eutech Sets a New Standard in Intelligent Building Management Systems at AHR '99

Singapore, Monday, January 18, 1999

Eutech demonstrated its commitment to providing an open systems approach to intelligent building with the launch of the ViVa Intelligent Integrated Building Management System (I2BMS) Suite.

ViVa is made up of 2 distinct but integrated components: Catseye personal SCADA and FusionX enterprise applications. ViVa differs from traditional Building Automation Systems (BAS) by providing scaleable, open systems control and monitoring component based tools (Catseye personal SCADA) and linking them to value-added enterprise wide applications (FusionX) such as facilities management, fault tracking, asset management, energy management, etc.

Eutech intends to evangelize the cause of the open systems approach to building automation system that help users scale their hardware and software needs. Eutech believes that only an open system approach based on a plug and play architecture can promote healthy growth in the construction and building management industry by making buildings far more intelligent than they are today.

" The building industry is where the computer industry was in the 1970s. Nothing works together and people are tied to proprietary systems. What we intend to do create a new standard in the industry by creating an architecture that will synergize hardware vendors and software developers," says Mr John Saliling, Chief Operations Officer, Eutech Cybernetics. "By providing the means to integrate building automation systems from different vendors, software developers worldwide can provide their expertise in information technology to create more innovative solutions," Mr Saliling added.

Users can see the ViVa solution at the company’s road-show worldwide starting at the AHR Expo ‘98 in San Francisco, USA from the 19th-21st January 1998.

Eutech is also in the process of tying up with leading manufacturers of building control systems and system integrators to provide a comprehensive one-stop solution.

ViVa- Integrated Intelligent Building Management Solution (I2BMS) Suite

Overview

Today’s property markets are changing faster than ever. Users such as property developers, mechanical and electrical engineers, consultants, building managers and tenants are demanding more advanced intelligent building subsystems from a single desktop. Traditionally, this has not been possible as the Building Automation Systems (BAS) from one vendor could not interface with those of another vendor.

60% of a building’s lifetime cost can be attributed to on-going operational cost. Installing an intelligent building management solution should reduce this cost. This has not happened for two reasons; problems integrating BAS from different vendors and integrating building control systems to value added applications.

The problem today is "How can one integrate building control systems, fire systems, security systems and telecommunications system of different vendors and bring tangible savings and better building management processes?"

Eutech’s ViVa solution provides the answer by first providing an innovative software (Catseye personal SCADA) that integrates the different subsystems. Second, ViVa also provide the enterprise wide applications (FusionX) that gives significant paybacks and cost savings. FusionX empowers the enterprise users whose needs go beyond controlling and monitoring building subsystems. These users primary needs range from cost management to the use of information to improve business processes.

The twin approach of using Catseye and FusionX allows Eutech or any third party software developer to create applications that serve the needs of the many different types of users.

Catseye personal SCADA

Catseye is an open and scaleable agent technology developed by Eutech Cybernetics that provides the user a customizable, plug & play architecture for the control and monitoring of the building subsystems.

  • The world’s first personal SCADA for monitoring and control
  • Open scaleable systems that extends Microsoft’s Component Object Model (COM)
  • Objected oriented technology: uses objects to seamlessly link subsystems from multiple vendors and management applications
  • Minimal hardware and software investment as a result of using readily available PCs that run on Windows 95

FusionX Enterprise Workflow

FusionX is made up of a suite of enterprise wide workflow applications that add value to the Catseye personal SCADA. Enterprise wide solutions can include paperless workflow application for facilities management, fault tracking, etc.

  • Links building control systems to people, applications and communication media to extend the versatility of building management application
  • Provides workflow application that make building management software useful
  • Provides the high level value-added applications that empower the enterprise user
