Check Out The Latest Open Enterprise Connectivity Solutions At The AHR 2000 Expo.

Sunnyvale,California, Sunday, February 21, 1999

Eutech Cybernetics will demonstrate ViVa Facility Works! a complete open enterprise connectivity solution for Integrated Facility Management and Intelligent Buildings at the ASHRAE 2000 conference in Dallas early next year.

Made up of Facility SCADA, a multi-function man-machine interface; Facility Office, an Integrated Facilities & Enterprise Management software; and Facility Connect, a library of software interfaces based on the most popular industry protocols for building systems, ViVa! is the first product suite to provide a truly interoperable system with an easy to use, plug and play environment based on an open, scalable and universally accepted architecture.

ViVa Facility Works! comes with connectivity to different industry standards, such as LONWorks® native LNS, BACnet™, OPC™ (OLE for process control), MODBUS™, SNMP™ (Simple Network Management Protocol), ODBC (open database connectivity), Microsoft® COM (Component Object Model) and Microsoft® ADO (ActiveX Data Objects).

Using these protocols simultaneously, ViVa Facility Works! acts as a broker between different open standards in the industry and provides an easy solution for linking proprietary systems to standard industry equipment.

Additionally, Facility SCADA is a scalable man-machine interface (MMI) for both personal and supervisory workstations. Users can deploy Facility SCADA as a standalone building supervisory system, a supervisory workstation for integrating building systems and a common software platform for integrating building systems and business processes.

"Today, as far as we know, in the marketplace, ViVa Facility Works! is the first suite of products that incorporates multiple de facto open standards including LONWorks®, BACnet™, OPC™, SNMP™, MODBUS™, ODBC and Microsoft® COM," said Peter Sheridan, Sales & Marketing Manager for Eutech Cybernetics. "ViVa Facility Works! encourages users to install best-of-breed systems by mixing and matching equipment using different industry standards. Today, when the industry talks about interoperable systems, it usually means within the same standard. We want to go beyond these limitations to promote a truly multi-vendor, multi-standards environment. With ViVa Facility Works!, you can buy any system today knowing that even if standards change, your path to future upgrades will still be protected." he continued.

Facility Office completes the suite by providing integrated Facilities & Enterprise Management software to manage buildings. Facility Office is used by building maintenance teams, operations managers, financial department personnel, equipment vendors, contractors and tenants. Based on Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes, Facility Office centers on collaborative workflows and GroupWare technology to manage and maintain building and business services. Facility Office links seamlessly to building systems to improve the overall efficiency of maintenance teams and service standards. For example, a problem with a building subsystem automatically generates a work order and sends it via e-mail, pager or fax for rectification. The entire process takes a matter of minutes and facilities managers can track the problem each step of the way. Various data such as time taken to resolve the problem can be extracted from the system to help facilities managers streamline operations.

Facility Office comes with the following Modules

  • HelpDesk - Centralizes fault and maintenance reporting with help desk activities
  • FaultTrax - Automates fault-related demand maintenance work scheduling and reporting
  • PlanTrax - Automates preventive maintenance work planning, scheduling and reporting
  • LaborTrax - Manages maintenance team work and leave schedules
  • InvenTrax - Manages tools and materials used by maintenance teams
  • AssetTrax - Manages assets within the building
  • PurchaseTrax - Manages purchase requisitions for maintenance team
  • ConTrax - Manages term contracts for facility and equipment maintenance
  • BookTrax - Manages facility reservations
  • WorkBench - Set of tools to configure the Facility Office Suite

The above software is also Internet enabled, thus allowing all parties involved in the day to day running of the facilities to be part of a virtual business community.
